Soft Padded Double
i have a ford courier double cab. when i apply my brakes slowly i slide in the rain?
i have replaced four diffrent sets of tyres hard and soft compound and replaced the shock absorbers
yet the problem still exists i have also tried diffrent brake pads as well is this van known for this problem
its a lot more helpful if you explain specifics, like I was driving down the road in the rain, and when I stepped on the brakes the rear wheels locked up.
all cars have what is called a proportioning valve in the brake system, if you look on the master cyl inder under the hood, you will see two brake lines coming out of the side. Follow these down to where it goes in to this metal proportioning valve which splits into four seperate lines (one for each wheel) this is preset from the factory to apply the braking force to evenly stop your vehicle (the front tires, have more weight on the front, and the rear end on all pickups is lighter. So whatever the factory decided, it does .
It is not adjustable ,What happens is, it gets old, junk may clog it up, (its metal, so moisture could condense inside, then a bit of rust, valve does not work right. I would go to a good brake shop, most will give you some free advice, get some ok? had you gone to a good brake shop they should have told you about this valve before now. If I have a problem with the brakes locking up in the rear too soon, the rear brakes, are adjusted too tight, or this valve is not working right. good luck. hope this helps, your truck is unsafe ok?
