Fred Bear Buckmaster
Just starting hunting, which bow would be best?
I'm 15 and am just starting hunting and bowfishing and I want to know whether I should get a Fred bear buckmaster for 200$ or a martin jaguar takedown recurve for 100$.
Here is a link to the Bear bow giving it a great review. However it is a world of difference between a compound and a recurve. But the recurve would actually be much better for bow fishing then the compound would.
The compound on the other hand would be easier to learn how to shoot accurately and would require much less practice to maintain good accuracy then the recurve would.
Bottom line- you would be more effective hunting deer with the compound, and more effective bow fishing with the recurve. The compound has many more things that may go wrong with it, and the recurve is much harder to learn how to hit consistently and accurately with, The choice is up to you

Hoyt Bow or Bear Whitetail II Bow?
I am a beginner and am deciding between the above to start with. Any advice between the two bows?
Go with a Hoyt. I have the new Mathews XT, but it is pricey. You can probably get a Hoyt much cheaper. Fred Bear just got bought out. They first bought Jennings Archery and now they got bought out by Escalade Sports which will eventually sell them again. It will be hard to find parts for a Fred Bear Bow in the near future... Also check out Browning. They make great beginner bows. Go to a store and shoot them all.. Those guys are paid by the hour, they don't care.....

Turbohawk. The new Hoyt bow
How do you adjust the draw weight on a Hoyt bow?
I have a youth bow.
On the limbs there should be two dials that an allen wrench will fit into. This will be connected to the riser. Crank them the desired way the same amount on each riser.
