i just bought an older compound bow made in the early 90s i was told i cant shoot carbon arrows?
I was told i cant shoot carbon arrows because the bow wasn't designed for them and the limbs could be damaged from shooting them. Is this true or can i go carbon instead of aluminum arrows?
Sounds strange, but I believe that you can go with some of the heavier carbon arrows and would not have any problem.
ExpAndable Broadhead im looking for a broadhead...?
i just got into hunting last year and im trying to upgrade on some of my gear. so im looking a good broadhead. i dont know weather or not i want a fixed blade boradhead or the expandable blades. so i figured id ask you deer hunters out there what you shoot so i can get an idea of what i want.
Get a good fixed blade broadhead like the Thunderhead, Muzzy,Slick Trick or the Magnus Stinger. These blades when hitting the vitals of a deer will never let you down. Forget the rage broadheads. 98% of the guys bragging on them have never shot a deer with the rage head. They are only popular because of massive advertising and sponsoring Hunting shows. You get poor penetration with them and most of the time the blades will break off the head. I'm sure some deer have been killed with them but deer have been killed by sharpened rocks in the past. But that doesn't make the sharpened rock a great head.Just like the rage will never be a great head.
Sight Scope Is there a scope or sight that will fit on the Spyder Mr1??
I recently got a Mr1 and i want to customize it. But i can;t find a sight that will fit. Also i was wondering if i could somehow put a rifle scope on it??
What is the easiest way to sight a pellet gun (.177 cal) at a distance of about 60 feet? I can hit basically anything i want with the hard sights, but the scope is fun every now and then. Thanks.
A step by step guide to sighting in your air rifle scope.
Air rifles tend to be very particular about the pellets they prefer, if you want to get the most out of your rifle, once you have it sighted in. Get several types* of high quality pellets and see which are the most accurate. Beeman, RWS, JSB, H&N are all excellent, RWS has a sample pack with 5 of their most popular pellets.
*Dome, Pointed, etc & different weights(gr).
I would not go with flat(match) pellets unless you only intend to shoot at targets(10 meters). If you do want match pellets, IMO the best are Meisterkugeln
If you're sighting in a spring piston air rifle you are much better off using a rolled up towel rather than sandbags or any type of solid rest. Find the balance point of your rifle and place that point on the towel. Your rifle should only lightly touch your shoulder.
"Hold" is very important when shooting spring piston airguns. If you try to put the "death grip" on one you will ruin it's accuracy. For the right handed shooter, find the balance point of your rifle with your left hand. Do not grip the forearm or your rifle, it should rest in the palm of your hand. The butt of the rifle should be held as lightly as possible against the shoulder while still maintaining stability. After that it's the same as with a regular firearm. sight picture, control your breathing, trigger squeeze.
